Kittens, Egypt

As we gear up to move on from Egypt, a country that alternates between inducing utter rage and intense affection, I thought I’d get around to bringing you that picture post I’ve been promising you.

Kitten in the fort at Alexandria, Egypt.

You cannot get away from cats in Egypt. They breed like, well, like rabbits, I guess, with kittens at every time of year…

Shortly after I took this picture, one of the kittens fell down a well, and had to be rescued…

Not that the others were bothered…

Kitten watching as its siblings are rescued from a well.

This one is only a couple of weeks old. His eyes had barely opened, and he squeaked more like a mouse than a cat.

Watching my spawn ride his bike up and down the seafront in quest of kittens has been one of many highlights of our time here in Dahab. I’d thoroughly recommend it as a place to stop for a while.

Yes, I know… He was quite resistant to leaving, but, you know, we have people to meet, and if I’d left it any later we’d basically have missed Israel. We’ll have to keep them in touch… He uses Skype more than he uses FB…

Oh how cute! Having kittens around would be so cool – especially watching them with their playful banter!
We seem to attract animals wherever we are – so far we are so lucky to spoil two dogs and one cat – we get to feed them and play with them and then they go home!
    Where to next?

We’re in Israel! And I’m WAY behind on blogging. Going to try and get a post up today…

  4. Aww kittens! They’re awesome (cute pics btw). It’s when they turn into cats they’re a pest 😉

Yes, exactly, but I always feel rather sorry for them, as they undergo the transition from petted, adored kitten to pestilential, verminous, spraygunned cat…
